What is Brainspotting Therapy?

Brainspotting is an innovating brain-based therapy tool developed by psychotherapist Dr. David Grand , who discovered that “where you look affects how you feel” and used that finding to create a method for faster and effective self-healing. This means that, depending on where you look, you may feel more calm or more stressed while thinking of something distressing or upsetting.

Brainspotting therapy works by locating an eye position that correlates to deep place in your subcortical brain where a negative emotions, memory, thought or experience is stored. This eye position is call the Brainspot.

Once the brainspot is activated, it will release the negative emotion, memory, thought or experience, allowing you to rapidly process, resolve, overcome and heal.

Brainspotting for High-Achieving Women

Brainspotting is a powerful, brain-body-based therapy that helps you process the deeper emotional blocks that traditional talk therapy may miss. For high-achieving women managing anxiety and perfectionism, Brainspotting works by accessing the part of the brain where unresolved stress, self-criticism, and overthinking are stored—allowing for profound emotional release and nervous system regulation.

If you're used to pushing through, always being “on,” or holding yourself to impossible standards, Brainspotting creates space to be with what's underneath without judgment or pressure. Together, we gently rewire the perfectionist patterns that keep you stuck in fear, shame, or burnout. Many clients report feeling lighter, clearer, and more emotionally present sometimes after just a few sessions.

This isn’t just about coping. It’s about healing at the root.

Brain Spotting vs Talk Therapy

This technique was developed to use the eye position to help focus attention and provide access to information stored deep in the brain and body (which is the midbrain and nervous system). With this access, combined with the therapeutic presence and support of your therapist, the body and brain are able to process and heal wherever is getting in the way our wellbeing.

Your therapist will help you mindfully witness your inner process, promoting deep integration of relief from whatever was holding back in life.

Brainspotting can open doorways to new insights and cause internal shifts in your mind and body that help you to feel calmer and more at peace about issues that have previously caused you stressed. It doesn’t require extensive talk therapy to get there.
